Pocklington Route 5

A scenic ride including some steep and long hills along mostly quiet roads. The route is 18 miles/29km, or 2.5 hours riding time, and passes through Huggate which has the second deepest well in England at 339ft. When it was in use it took two men 20 minutes to extract one bucket of water! The site of the well is marked by a millstone on Huggate village green.
